What brand of pen and scanner do use?

Are your pens Bic? I like using Bic ballpoints... they leave gorgeous scruffy blobs of ink behind sometimes, which is a nice texture.
I think that's the scanner my dad uses! I have some HP Photosmart Printer/Scanner thing, and it washes out a lot of details. It makes me scans look cleaner, but it loses undersketches and stuff that can be kinda neat to see sometimes. Maybe I just need to mess with the settings, though.

I'm not.. actually sure.. I use two different brands, I switched to the one that was just a few cents move expensive because it didn't spit so much, haha. The spitty one was orange and the one I now use is see through but also black, I think it's a japanese brand? Maybe it is Bic??

Man I'm really bad at scanner settings though, but I've noticed it helps if you put something heavy on top of the paper you're scanning, it catches more details that way
